Here at Shiltech we have run cars in numerous Ferrari Championships and also for several years in the prestigious British GT Championship, so we know a thing or two about track cars and their preparation.
So here is one we prepared earlier.
This is a 1999 Mitsubishi Evo 6 RS2. The ‘RS’ letters are important because this is the ‘Rally Sport’ version of the already formidable Evo 6, regarded by many as the best evocation of the Evo series and already attaining collector car status.
The vendor acquired the car as an import from Japan in 2007 and is the only UK owner. At the time the car had covered just 19000 miles (31000 kms) and has done just 12000 miles since ( leading to odometer reading of 43000). He immediately handed the car over to Geoff at Shiltech to be turned into a road-going tack day car. Hence it now sports 32 position adjustable suspension, 4 pot Brembo front brakes, Sparco sports seats, Rollcenter full roll cage, Sabelt 5 point racing harnesses as well as a fully stripped out interior, replaced by metal floor etc. The original seats and headlining are included in the sale and are in good condition.
And, because it is the RS2 version, it still has the civilising elements of CD/radio, air conditioning and most significantly it has AYC (automatic yaw control), just in case you overstep the considerable cornering ability of the car. Thus the owner has used this car, not just on tracks in this country but also at The Nordschlieffe and has even driven it to his holiday home near Marbella.
